A weather strip comprises a channel shaped mounting portion 14 and a relatively soft hollow sealing portion 15. Moulded corner pieces connect straight sections, being attached during the moulding process. The width W1 of the mounting portion 20 in the corner pieces is narrower than the corresponding width W2 in the straight sections. Projections 22 may be present on the inside of the corner mounting portion, possibly corresponding to a lip 17 on the straight sections. The moulded mounting portion is formed so that its width may be increased by flexing, allowing it to be firmly affixed to a flange (19, figure 4). This property may be encouraged by tightening the curvature of the strip prior to full cooling, before returning it to its original geometry. Also disclosed is a similar weather strip with an opening in its sealing part through which a forming core member may be removed. A flap (24, figure 7) covers this opening and abuts against the mounting member. At least one notch (25, figure 7) facilitates movement of the flap. |
