Acyclic rotation drive for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine has a drive (7) with an engine (2) and an output (6) to a transmission (15). Transmission has a double cardan joint assembly to produce instantaneous variations in rotational speed around a average speed value. Speed sensors (40) detect instantaneous rotational speed and controls (5) are connected to engine to modify amplitude of variation.
