PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the overall image quality by envisaging a digital laboratory system as a premise. SOLUTION: A control circuit 1 performs exposure arithmetic calculations to the luminance of the entire field so as to perform moderate exposure in a laboratory corresponding mode. In the laboratory corresponding mode, the circuit 1 allows the influence of camera shake and obtains a film image whose depth of field is larger than that in an ordinary mode in the case of setting stop-down amount AV and shutter speed TV. Furthermore, the circuit 1 reduces the emitted light amount of a stroboscope in the laboratory corresponding mode than in the ordinary mode. The circuit 1 is set so that the control of extending a focus lens 9 in the laboratory corresponding mode is performed with lower accuracy than that in the ordinary mode. Thus, a photographic print having the larger depth of field, a photographic print where the difference of exposure between the subject and a background is restrained and a photographic print near to an image actually seen with the naked eyes are obtained, and also a release time lag is reduced.
