PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner including a hybrid compressor capable of shortening the time required for defrosting and of improving heating capability. SOLUTION: An air conditioner is adapted to include a hybrid compressor 1 that comprises a discharge chamber 1b to which a discharge tube (a) is connected, a compression section 1a to which a suction tube (b) is connected, and an electric motor chamber 1c to which a first delivery tube (c) and a second delivery tube (d) are connected. Further the conditioner includes a four-way valve 2 to which at least the discharge tube and the first delivery tube are connected, an outdoor heat exchanger 3 to which the second delivery tube is connected, an expansion valve 4, and an indoor heat exchanger 5, all connected in order through pipings to form a refrigerant circuit. In the air conditioner, a bypass passage 7 equipped with a first opening/closing valve 6 is connected between the discharge tube and an inlet tube of the outdoor heat exchanger in heating operation to hereby open the first opening/closing valve in defrosting operation.
