PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polysubstituted cyclopentenone selectively easily without needing the use of gas. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a cyclopentenone derivative of a formula (I) comprises reacting a titanium compound of a formula (II) with an alkyne of a formula (III) and an ester of a formula (IV) (wherein, R1 to R3 are each independently identical to or different from each other, and a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or the like; M is titanium; L1 and L2 are each a ligand; Z1 and Z2 are each a hydrocarbon group; and Y1 is a leaving group).
