PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member of carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon whose carbon fibers are placed homogeneously in circumferential direction and in diameter direction and its efficient manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This is the sliding member 1 which comprises at least a disc part 2 of carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon having a sliding surface 2a and an axial core 3 connected to the disc and is the sliding member who characteristically comprises helical fabric 4 in which diameter direction threads 5 of carbon fiber and/or circumferential direction threads 6 of carbon fiber are used for the disc.
