PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal wit the function of a long-distance object sensing device used in an ACC system and the function of a short-range object sensing device used in a Stop and Go system by using one object sensing device. SOLUTION: The object sensing device St which is used to sense the distance and the direction of a target in the front of an own vehicle by a laser radar device is provided with a long-distance transmission means 10 used in the ACC system and a short-range transmission means 11 used in the Stop and Go system. Laser beams which are transmitted from both transmission means 10, 11 are reflected by a common light sending mirror 13 so as to be transmitted roward the target. Reflected light from the target is reflected by a common light receiving mirror 20 so as to be received by a common reception means 17.
