PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having an impact resistance in addition to a linearly tearable properties without damaging the excellent transparency, durability, dimensional stability, gas-barrier properties, oil resistance, solvent resistance and mechanical strength of the biaxially oriented polyester film usable for a packaging material, and further to provide a laminate thereof. SOLUTION: This biaxially oriented polyester film is the one obtained by dispersing a polyether-ester elastomer in the proportion of 5-30 wt.% in a polyethylene terephthalate so as to form a long and narrow island state, and is characterized in that the elastomer contains 21-60 wt.% polytetramethylene glycol having 500-5,000 average molecular weight in the main chain, and the biaxially oriented polyester film has the minimum Trouser tear strength within the range of 1.5-3.0 N/mm, and tearing linearity in the measuring direction of the minimum tear strength.
