PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance and inspection device of an elevator which prevents the data collection for diagnosing a failure and the report to a remote monitoring center during the maintenance and inspection, and limits the collected data and the report to the remote monitoring center to those only attributable to abnormal operations of the elevator. SOLUTION: In this maintenance and inspection device of the elevator having the failure diagnosing function for diagnosing a failure or the remote monitoring function of automatically reporting a failure to the external remote monitoring center 23 when the failure occurs in a control panel 10 installed in a hoistway 1, a portable terminal device 21 for maintenance is connected to the control panel 10 via terminals 20a and 20b provided in a car or a landing hall during the maintenance and inspection to set the elevator in a maintenance and inspection mode and to invalidate the failure diagnosing function and the remote monitoring function.
