PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a shift from accumulating and exceeding an adjusting range, even when axial positions of the starting end and the finishing end of a web of a set roll shift from each other requiring adjustment of an axial position of the roll. SOLUTION: The web 32 is fed from a first roll, and just before the web 32 of the first roll is completely consumed, the axial position of the first roll is adjusted to an axial position of the starting end of a web of a second roll, and then the starting end of the web of the second roll is seamed near the finishing end of the web 32 of the first roll for connection.
