PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding tool which is used for manufacturing an optical scale that can output high-accuracy move signals, even though the scale is easily manufactured. SOLUTION: The molding tool, used for manufacturing the optical scale 3, has a stationary mold 8 and a movable mold 7. In the tool, both a first mold section 13 which forms the shaft attaching hole 3f of the scale 3 and a second mold section 12 which forms the slit section 11 of the scale 3 are arranged in either of the stationary mold 8 or the movable mold 7.
