PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having a multi-timing controller is provided to use a timing controller widely without different kinds of timing controllers for each model by generating a control signal corresponding to changing resolution with an adder, a subtracter and a comparator. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller consists of a decoder(24) and a timing generator(26) for selecting desired timing value corresponding to the size of an LCD. The decoder receives timing setting data from outside and outputs corresponding timing counting values. Herein, the timing setting data are set by a general DIP(Dual Inline Package) switch. The decoder saves plural counting values for generating control signals according to the size of an LCD, and outputs timing counting values corresponding to input timing setting data. The timing generator includes: a first control unit(26a) for generating a GOE(Gate Output Enable) by receiving a selected timing signal from the decoder; a second control unit(26b) for generating a POL(Polarity Reverse) and a GSP(Gate Start Pulse); a third control unit(26c) for generating an SSP(Source Start Pulse) and an SSC(Source Sampling Clock); a fourth control unit(26d) for changing the GOE(Gate Output Enable) of the first control unit; and a fifth control unit(26e) for always keeping the polarity of horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals regular. The first control unit counts and memorizes input clocks during a horizontal synchronizing signal cycle and then compares the value with the set value of the decoder. The first control unit generates an SOE(Source Output Enable) and a GSC(Gate Shift Clock) and outputs a GOE to the fourth control unit. An LCD having the multi-timing controller generates a control signal corresponding to changing resolution.
