PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver salt photothermal photographic dry imaging material having high image quality and excellent in color tone and preservability while using a small amount of silver and to provide an image recording method using the photothermal imaging material. SOLUTION: The silver salt photothermal photographic dry imaging material has a photosensitive layer formed by applying a composition containing a photosensitive emulsion containing at least organic silver salt grains, photosensitive silver halide grains and a solvent, a reducing agent and a binder and contains a silver saving agent in at least one of the photosensitive layer and a non- photosensitive layer. An image obtained by heat-developing the imaging material at 123 deg.C development temperature for 13.5 sec development time has an average gradation of 2.0-4.0 at an optical density of 0.25-2.5 under diffused light on a characteristic curve shown on orthogonal coordinates with equal unit lengths of diffusion density (Y axis) and common logarithmic light exposure (X axis).
