PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for processing the end faces of optical fiber assemblies that can process the end face with constant accuracy regardless of user skill and improve the productivity of assemblies. SOLUTION: When the processing of an optical fiber assembly 1 which is obtained by covering the end of an optical fiber cable 2 with a ferrule 10 and projecting a core 3 from the end face of the ferrule 10 is performed, the end mill 20 of a rotary cutting tool begins to cut from the end tip of the ferrule 10, and when reaching a protrusion 3a of the core 3 by progress of cutting, begins to cut the core. Since the ferrule 10 is cut previous to cutting the core, the core wire 3 processed at the second stage is protected. If the end mill 20 is need, since cutting blade is discontinuous, reduces the contact of the blade with the core 3 and the ferrule 10 is reduced, the frictional heat is suppressed and the fusion of them can be prevented.
