PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the whole body of a back hoe compact by shortening the distances from the center to the left and right side sections of the turning base of the back hoe. SOLUTION: This back hoe is constituted in such a way that the turning base 1 mounted with a driver's cab 2 is turnably provided on a traveling machine base 4 having left and right crawler traveling devices 5 and the boom 6 of an excavating device A is provided in a leftwardly and rightwardly turnable state in front of the driver's cab in the front section of the turning base 1. In the lateral direction of the turning base 1, the driver's cab 2, a control lever group 31, and the boom 6 are closely arranged in such a way that the centers of the cab 2 and group 31 in the lateral direction are shifted to the left or right side and the boom 6 is shifted to the right or left side from the center of the base 1 in the lateral direction.
