PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate device for a waterway capable of relaxing collision of the gate body and maintaining the member by arranging cushioning bodies at the upper bed and the bottom bed of a waterway 1. SOLUTION: The gate device is provided with the gate body 2 rotatably connected to the bottom bed 1 b of the waterway 1 at the basal end so as to be vertically erectable and the tip side of the gate body 2 is made erectable toward the upper bed 1a of the waterway 1 correspondent to the water level difference of the river side. The gate body closes the flow passage to the wateway 1 side on erecting to prevent return flow. Cushioning bodies receiving elastically the pressure of the gate body 2 are provided at the upper bed and the bottom bed respectively.
