PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Fe-Ni alloy cold rolled sheet more excellent in etching properties and surface properties and to provide a method for refining an Fe-Ni alloy by which the same cold rolled sheet can suitably be produced. SOLUTION: This Fe-Ni alloy cold rolled sheet has a composition containing, by weight, 0.001 to 0.30% Si, 0.001 to 0.60% Mn, 20 to 50% Ni and 0.0001 to 0.020% Al, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities such as C, P, S and Cu, in which the composition of nonmetallic inclusions is fundamentally composed of MnO-SiO2-Al2O3 series, also, 5 to 50% MnO, 30 to 60% SiO2 and 5 to 30% Al2O3 are contained, and further, the total content of CaO and MgO included as the other unavoidable impurities is regulated to <=30%.
