PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid detergent suited in cleaning hard surfaces which has good solubility even at high alkali concentrations and can supply a necessary amount of the detergent in a short period of time, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The solid detergent is the one in which a part of an alkali metal hydroxide salt is contained and dispersed in the indissoluble state of the anhydrous alkali metal hydroxide salt. The method for manufacturing the solid detergent comprises forming a slurry aqueous solution having the alkali metal hydroxide salt and a sequestering agent as the major components, then adding the anhydrous alkali metal hydroxide salt to the slurry aqueous solution to form a slurry aqueous solution in which at least a part of the added anhydrous alkali metal salt is dispersed in the indissoluble state, and filling the slurry aqueous solution in a mold to set it.
