PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve strength of a mold manufactured by methods of molding a self-hardening mold or a mold hardened with ester gas using water-soluble phenol resin as a bonding, agent and to raise the flash point of a hardener used for method of molding mold hardened with ester gas. SOLUTION: This hardener composition for water-soluble phenol resin contains esters and either one or both of alcohols and water.
