PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new modified terpene resin which has excellently improved modification effect on polymer material, etc., and a resin composition containing the same. SOLUTION: This new modified terpene resin is obtained by reacting an unsaturated carboxylic and modified terpene-based resin which is obtained by reacting a terpene-based resin with an olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid and/or dicarboxylic acid and/or anhydrides thereof in the presence of a free radical initiator in the absence or presence of a solvent, with an amino alcohol represented by the general formula: H2N-R-OH (R is a 1-18C alkylene, arylene or aralkylene).
