PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for gasification of coal, or the like, whereby the amount of a carbon dioxide gas generated is reduced. SOLUTION: In a gas production method whereby a hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide gas are obtained by supplying raw materials such as coal and then steam or water and oxygen to a gasification oven to generate a gas and purifying the gas, hydrogen gas is further supplied.
