The device has an inlet air/fluid heat exchanger (22) for adjusting the inlet air temperature, this exchanger connected to a first liquid cooling circuit (24) for cooling the inlet air and a second liquid heating circuit (26) for heating the inlet air, by means of heating/cooling liquid distribution pump (28). There is a second heat exchanger (34) for the exhaust gas/liquid. The first liquid cooling circuit has an air/liquid cooling heat exchanger (30) carried in the front face of the vehicle, and a pump (32) for circulating this air/fluid.
