PURPOSE: A method for generating OAM(Operation And Management) cells in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) is provided to generate and manage an OAM cell for the defect management of each channel in an optical transport network equipment. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating OAM cells is composed of an OAM cell processing step(S100), a physical inspection step(S200), and an OAM cell generation step(S300). The OAM cell processing step(S100) is provided to process an OAM cell supplied from the ATM layer of an optical communication equipment and to store defect information in the state variable block of a critical section. The physical inspection step(S200) is provided to check a physical fault state, such as board disconnection, alarm generation, etc., for the optical communication equipment and to record relevant information, if a fault is generated, in the state variable block of the critical section. The OAM cell creation step(S300) is provided to receive the state variables recorded in the critical section, to generate a new OAM cell, and to transport it to the ATM layer. |
