PURPOSE: An optical fiber connector assembly is provided, which realizes an improved connector assembly. CONSTITUTION: A fanout connector assembly for fiber optic cables(28) each including a plurality of optical fibers(30), comprising: at least two fanout connectors(20) each including housing means(22,24) having a passage(34) for receiving a fiber optic cable(28) along an axis(36), and fanout means(26) in the housing means for spreading the individual optical fibers(30) of the fiber optic cable(28) transversely of the axis(36); and complementary interengaging stacking means(56,70,62) on the housing means(22,24) of the two connectors(20) for aligning and holding the connectors in stacked relationship with one connector(20) on top of the other connector(20).
