The check valve has an axial upstream and downstream passageways (6,14), staggered and parallel with respect to each other, and an elastic material diaphragm (18) cooperating with an annular valve seat (25) for normally keeping communication between these passageways closed. The diaphragm has an end wall (18) of a cup-shaped element (17) on which a plunger (9) rests coaxially, the plunger (9) sliding between retracted inoperative, and advanced operative positions. Valve opening occurs following flexion of the diaphragm (18), which can be spontaneous due to a predetermined fluid pressure in the upstream passageway (6), or positively operated via the plunger (9).
