PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device and its control method capable of keeping the stable operation of the device by controlling the current-carrying timing in the direction restraining the current carrying to a paper height detection sensor to the utmost in agreement with the timing at which the paper height detection sensor functions when sheets are carried and capable of extending the service life of the detection sensor and reducing consumption power, and provide a storage medium. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a carrying means for stacking the sheets, a detection means for detecting that the paper surface of the sheets stacked on the carrying means reach a predetermined height; and a control means for controlling the current carrying to the detection means so as to be carried out only while image formation is being operated. The device is characterized in that the current is carried to the detection means only in agreement with the timing at which the sheets are stacked on the carrying means.
