PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen sensor employing an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte and a method for measuring hydrogen concentration which can selectively measure hydrogen concentration. SOLUTION: A gas composition converting means (a first oxygen pump cell, a first oxygen detection cell, a second oxygen pump cell 111, a second oxygen detection cell 113) having a function for oxidizing combustible gas in gas diffusion chamber and an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte type sensor element structure provided with a gas diffusion rate determining section 10a for limiting diffusion quantity of gas to be measured, a gas diffusion chamber 12 for diffusing gas passed trough the gas diffusion are determining section, a first oxygen detection cell 13 for measuring the partial pressure of oxygen in the gas diffusion chamber, a first oxygen pump cell 11 for controlling the partial pressure of oxygen in the gas diffusion chamber based on the output from the first oxygen detection cell, and means (sensor control circuits 20, 120) for driving the gas composition converting means intermittently is provided, and the hydrogen concentration is measured depending on the transient variation of gas composition with the gas composition converting means is driven intermittently. |
