PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ship propelling machine tilting device with a gas assist function, capable of increasing the capacity of an accumulating chamber and ensuring the leaping-up property of a propelling machine body due to a collision of driftwood, while being compact in size. SOLUTION: In this ship propelling machine tilting device 20, a cylinder 21 is made from dual pipes having an outer cylinder 21A and an inner cylinder 21B, and a rod guide 24 for sealing the outer cylinder 21A and the inner cylinder 21B is provided at an end portion of the cylinder 21. A free piston 61 is disposed in a space between the outer cylinder 21A and the inner cylinder 21B, and a rod guide 24 side from the free piston 61 in the space is used as a discharge liquid chamber 60. The rod guide 24 is provided with an absorber valve 62 opening when the pressure of fluid in a rod side chamber 31 is raised not less than a specified value so as to enable the fluid in the rod side chamber 31 to be transported into the discharge liquid chamber 60, and a return valve 63 enabling the fluid in the discharge liquid chamber 60 to be transported into the rod side chamber 31. |
