摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring distance, in which measurement accuracy can be enhanced by reducing the dead angle, when an object is irradiated with light. SOLUTION: In the method for irradiating an object with a light through an irradiating means, focusing the image of reflected light on an image sensor and then measuring the distance to the objected, based the focus position of the image on the image sensor, the object is rotated in a specified direction at a specified angle from an initial position on the X-Y plane of an orthogonal coordinate system defined by X, Y and Z axes which are mutually orthogonal. The optical axis of the irradiating means is rotated about the Z-axis in synchronism with rotation of the object to keep the same direction and the same rotational angle as the object from the initial position, and then the distance is measured, depending on the rotation of the object and the optical axis of the irradiating means.
