PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method in which a good V-shaped fusing zone having a high center part in a blast furnace without hanging down from a intermediate part to the peripheral part in the blast furnace in a high O/C operation. SOLUTION: In the operating method of the blast furnace for alternately charging an iron ore and a coke in a form of a layer from the furnace top part of the blast furnace so that the mass ratio (O/C) of the iron ore to the coke becomes >=4.5, the middle and small bulky cokes having 5-40 mm grain diameter are mixed into the iron ores from the intermediate part to the peripheral part (in the case of using r for the furnace radius, the range of 0.5r to r) in the radius direction of the furnace to the iron one layer in the blast furnace and this mixing ratio is regulated to 1%-10%.
