PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic vinyl polymer hydrogenation product or a cycloalkene vinyl polymer hydrogenation product whereby the utilities of hydrogenation catalyst and filtration auxiliary are increased, the waste is abolished and the productivity is improved. SOLUTION: The method, wherein the aromatic vinyl polymer or cycloalkene vinyl polymer is subjected to a hydrogenation reaction in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst obtain the aromatic vinyl polymer hydrogenation product or the cycloalkene vinyl polymer hydrogenation product, is characterized in that the reaction is carried out by adding the hydrogenation catalyst and the filtration auxiliary which are filtered and recovered from reaction solution after the reaction when the aromatic vinyl polymer or cycloalkene vinyl polymer is subjected to another hydrogenation reaction.
