PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency shutoff valve for a water storage tank that can shut off water conduction to a water storage tank while ensuing water flow in a distributing main and without opening of a normally closed sluice valve, when the water storage tank is maintained in a normal state wherein water pressures in the distributing main and conduit pipes exceed a set value. SOLUTION: The emergency shutoff valve V for a water storage tank has a valve element moving means 16 comprising a push bolt 16A and a locknut 16B threaded on the push bolt 16A. In a normal state wherein the water storage tank emergency valve V is open, a sluice valve 14 for maintenance is opened first and the push bolt 16A is next pushed to the valve stem part 2D side to push the valve stem part 2D to one side of a valve casing 1, with the result that water flow to a water storage tank 9 is shut off with water flow being ensured from an upstream main 8A to a downstream main 8B in a distributing main 8.
