PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a complex containing a ligand L, a base B and a metal M. SOLUTION: This process for preparing the complex represented by the general formula: L.B.M [wherein, L is (R1)(R2)N-(CH2)n-N(R3)(R4) wherein, (R1)(R2)N and N(R3)(R4) are each same or different optically active amino acid; (n) is an integer of 1-10; B is a base; and M is a metal] comprises (i) a step for providing a reaction mixture containing L and B, and having pH <7.5, (ii) a step for providing the first complex mixture by bringing the reaction mixture into contact with M, and (iii) a step for providing the second complex mixture by bringing the first complex mixture into contact with B in an additional amount.
