PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cushioning material for the setting of articles wherein the articles to be housed can be housed without hitting to each other, and the cushioning reaction is excellent, and which can be easily built up with corrugated fiberboard or the like. SOLUTION: This cushioning material 2 for the setting of articles has a plurality of first plate-form members 4 and a plurality of second plate-form members 6. In this case, the first plate-form members 4 are arranged approximately in parallel in X direction. The second plate-form members 6 are arranged approximately in parallel in Y direction in a manner to cross the first plate-form members 4. At the upper edge sections of the first plate-form members 4 and/or the second plate-form members 6, a plurality of notches 10 for the setting of the articles are provided with a specified repeating unit in the X direction and/or the Y direction. Then, the cushioning material is constituted in such a manner that beverage cans 20 are set to be astride of one or more notches.
