Set of wood golf club heads comprises a first plurality of club heads having a loft of ten degrees or greater (e.g. 10, 11 and 12 deg.) with a striking plate thickness within a given range at the centre, for example 2.4 mm to 2.7 mm. A second plurality of club head has a loft of less than ten degrees (e.g. 7, 8 and 9 deg.) and a striking plate thickness greater than that of the first number of club heads at the centre, for example 2.5 mm to 2.8 mm. Preferably, all the striking plates should have a central thickness in the range of 2.3 mm to 3 mm, the second plurality of head having a thickness at least 0.15 mm greater than the first plurality of club heads. The heads may all be substantially the same in terms of club head volume, striking plate surface area, shape and appearance. The striking plates may be composed of titanium, titanium alloys, steels, vitreous, ceramics, composites, carbon materials, carbon fibre materials, or other fibrous material. The striking plate may have four successively narrower concentric regions around the central region. |
