PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting keystone are provided to correct keystone in an image processing step using a format conversion while fixing an optical path, thereby stably correcting the keystone with reduced costs. CONSTITUTION: A keystone correction apparatus includes a horizontal pixel number calculator(101) and a format converter(102). The horizontal pixel number calculator receives the amount of correction of keystone by the horizontal synchronous signal, the number of input pixels in the horizontal direction, the number of pixels in the vertical direction and frames and calculates the number of output pixels in the horizontal direction for every horizontal synchronous signal. The format converter converts the size of an input image according to the number of input pixels in the horizontal direction and the calculated number of output pixels in the horizontal direction. The apparatus further has a synchronous signal generator(103) for receiving the horizontal synchronous signal and the number of output pixels in the horizontal direction to generate a read control signal, and a line memory(104) for storing input image data and outputting a stored image according to the read control signal.
