METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING STAINLESS STEEL SLAB WITH REDUCED SURFACE SCALE

PURPOSE: To eliminate surface scale present in the middle part of a stainless steel slab while minimizing the temperature drop of the stainless steel slab, the cooling conditions of a continuous cast stainless steel slab is properly controlled just before it is charged in a heating furnace during the manufacture of a stainless steel slab using hot charge rolling(HRC). CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing stainless steel slab is characterized in that as conveying stainless steel slab at 20-30m/min on a convey table, cooling water is sprayed on upper side of the stainless steel slab at a pressure 6 to 7bar, being mixed with 15-25bar of air, and then it is dipped in a water basin for 10 to 30sec followed by charging in a heating furnace.
