PURPOSE: To provide a starting switch which is capable of reducing electric consumption. CONSTITUTION: The starting switch 50 comprises a resistance element 54 which is structured to be capable of connecting with a prescribed current channel and has the property of increasing its resistance value by heat generation of the electrical current flowing in this current channel and a thermostat switch 60 which is a switch having a movable contact 66 and connected in series with the resistance element 54 and which is constructed to cut off the prescribed current channel by the movement of the movable contact 66 when it reaches a prescribed temperature.
