PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve that is free from damage to a valve seat and seat packing due to cavitation and from wear of a plunger and a core due to inclination of a valve element. SOLUTION: The solenoid valve comprises a valve body 2 wherein an inflow passage 5 is connected to an inlet 8 of a valve chest 6, an outlet 9 of the valve chest 6 is connected to an outflow passage 7, the outlet 9 is provided with a valve seat 10, and the outflow passage 7 is provided with an orifice 11; a solenoid body 3 wherein a solenoid 12 is arranged in the upper section, a base 14 is arranged under the solenoid 12, and a core 15 is fitted in the solenoid 12; and a valve element 4 wherein a plunger 16 is slidably inserted in the core 15, a valve 17 fixed on the plunger 16 is positioned in the valve chest 6, and an elastic body 18 is arranged to energize the valve 17 toward the valve seat 10.
