PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly carry out fixing of an oven body metallic material upon buckstay placing of chamber oven type coke oven and further safely carry out the buckstay replacement working in a short term without hindrance to the driving of machines in front of the oven during the buckstay replacement working. SOLUTION: The oven body metallic material retainer 1 to be used comprises an upper trestle 8 and a lower trestle 9 which are each fixed between the next buckstays 2b on both sides of a replacing buckstay 2a, an oven body metallic material retaining member 3 which is placed by suspending over between the upper trestle 8 and the lower trestle 9 and is fixed in front surface of carbonizing chamber opening, ad press member supporting the oven body metallic material at plural stage positions in a height direction, and a heat shield plate bearing member.
