PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strong paper holder of a printer capable of easily mounting a paper roll. SOLUTION: The paper roll is rotatably grabbed and supported by a pair of pressing plates 32a and 32b. The pair of pressing plates 32a and 32b are structured so that the other moves by the same moving distance when one is moved by operations of racks 60a and 60b and a pinion 52. The pair of pressing plates 32a and 32b are energized by a compression spring 62 in the mutually approaching direction, and the energizing force of the compression spring 62 grabs the paper roll. This compression spring 62 absorbs shock due to falling, thereby preventing damage of the paper holder.
