<p>A high-speed variable length decoding apparatus independently performs a generation operation of a Ärun, levelÜ symbol and a decoding operation of the Ärun, levelÜ symbol, to thereby variable length decode the variable length coded data at high frequency for signal processing. The variable length decoding apparatus includes a storage and output portion (14) for storing the variable length coded data and outputting the stored variable length coded data by a predetermined data amount in response to a data storage state signal, a Ärun, levelÜ table (16) for outputting a Ärun, levelÜ symbol which is determined by the data output from the storage and output portion (14), a memory (37) for storing and outputting the Ärun, levelÜ symbol output from the Ärun, levelÜ table, in a first-in-first-out manner, and generating the signal indicating a data storage state of its own, and a Ärun, levelÜ decoder (38) for run-level decoding the Ärun, levelÜ symbol output from the memory (37). <IMAGE></p> |
