PURPOSE: To provide an information retrieval system capable of acquiring information on an object to be retrieved even without performing proper keyword specification, etc. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal 100 is provided with an image pickup part 101 to acquire images of plural frames including the object to be retrieved and a feature descriptor generating part 104 to generate a feature descriptor from the image of the object included in each of the frames and transmits the feature descriptor to a retrieval server 200. A matching processing part 202 retrieves a record to coincide with the feature descriptor to be received from the mobile terminal 100 from data bases such as a contents server A and a contents server B in the retrieval server 200.
