<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor variable wavelength conversion device in which a small-size light source with variable wavelength is used and detune dependency of the conversion efficiency is decreased. SOLUTION: In the device, a wavelength variable laser 2 having a plurality of end face emission type semiconductor laser waveguides 1 having different oscillation wavelengths from one another and having a means to select at least one of the waveguides to oscillate, and a first semiconductor optical amplification waveguide 3 where external optical signals are introduced, are arranged in parallel, a second semiconductor optical amplification waveguide 5 to linearly amplify the light and to carry out the nonlinear interaction in a plurality of laser beams, and an optical coupling waveguide 4 to couple the light from the end face emission type semiconductor laser waveguide 1 and the first semiconductor optical amplification waveguide 3 to the second semiconductor optical amplification waveguide 5 are integrated monolithically.</p> |
