PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen opening/closing device which can automatically stop a screen housing cylinder at an arbitrary location by performing windup operation of a screen at an arbitrary speed. SOLUTION: The screen opening/closing device is constructed by arranging the screen housing cylinder 3 in parallel with a jamb 1 of a square frame in a manner being movable along a head and a sill 2 of the square frame, arranging a windup shaft in the screen housing cylinder 3, attaching one end of the screen 5, such as a net or a roll blind, to the windup shaft such that the screen 5 can be wound up to be housed in the screen housing cylinder 3 or wound back to be drawn out of the same, and attaching the other end 6 of the screen 5 to the jamb 1 of the square frame. According to the screen opening/closing device, automatic brake devices 11 and 12 for automatically braking the screen housing cylinder 3 are arranged at both ends of the screen housing cylinder 3.
