The composition comprises: (A) a silane graft-copolymerized polyolefin mixture containing at least one polyolefin elastomer of density less than 0.92 g/cm<3> (100 parts by weight, (pbw)); and (B) filler and/or a halogen-containing compound and/or a synergistic mixture of halogen containing compounds and antimony trioxide (0-400 pbw). The polyolefin elastomer is an ethylene- alpha -copolymer with more than 3 carbon atoms. Component (A) is a silane-modified mixture of these components with one or more crystalline polyolefins of melting point exceeding 100 degrees C. The silane copolymerized polyolefin mixture is produced in a separate copolymerization stage before processing or simultaneously with processing in the melt by reaction of organic silanes of the general formula (I)with the polyolefin mixture in the present of radical-producing components. Anti friction and processing agents, nucleating agents, stabilizers, antistatic additives, process oils, pigments and/or expansion agents are added in specified weight proportions. A catalyst or catalyst mixture is added. RSiX3 (I) R = olefinic, unsaturated hydrocarbon residue; and X = organic group which can be hydrolyzed. |
