PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat having an air bag device in which an air bag easily and surely breaks the sewed parts of a seat cover open so that it is deployed from one side. SOLUTION: The vehicle seat has the air bag device in which the air bag 2 positioned on a side portion of the seatback 4 breaks the sewed part of the bag-shaped seat cover 5 open by means of its deployment pressure in an emergency so that it is deployed to protect an occupant from a side impact. The sewed part comprises a vertical sewed part 6 between the seat surface cover part 5a and the rail cover part 5b of the seat cover 5, and a transverse sewed part 7 intersecting the sewed part 6. A pair of upper and lower webbings 8 and 9 are each sewed at one end, respectively, to the upper and lower positions of the vertical sewed part 6 sandwiching the sewed part 7; first the vertical sewed part 6 sewed along with the webbings 8 and 9 are broken by the deployment pressure of the air bag 2 and then the transverse sewn part 7 is broken.
