PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the conventional problem that related to a position detector, which comprising facing surfaces, detects position by shielding propagation of light between a light-emitting part and a light-receiving part, sticking of foreign substances to the light-emitting part and the light-receiving part of the position detector which shields propagation of light, resulting in continual detection state of the position detector causing inability to make accurate position detection. SOLUTION: A light-emitting part 4 and a light-receiving part 5 are provided to corresponding facing surfaces. When an object 2 to be detected is present between the facing surfaces to shield between the light-emitting part 4 and the light-receiving part 5, a position is detected. Here, the object 2 is provided with a sponge 3.
