摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sintering furnace where an atmosphere gas spreads evenly all over a sintering container and which can remove additives and control the 0/U ratio in an initial sintering zone at 300 deg.C to 900 deg.C and not only can prevent such problems as the cracks and deformation of pellets from occurring but also can improve the productivity of the furnace. SOLUTION: A furnace for sintering pellets of nuclear fuel is characterized by the location of a lateral passage 24 where skids that travel with sintering containers loaded are moved in the lateral direction at almost right angles at some midpoint of passages 22 and 23 where the skids travel in an initial zone of the sintering furnace in the temperature range between 300 deg.C and 900 deg.C where additives are removed and the 0/U ratio is controlled.
