摘要 Cutter insert consists of hard metal, cermet, ceramic or steel base body and at least one lubricant layer made of MeSx (where, x = 0.8-2.2; and Me = Ti, Zr or Hf), preferably TiSx. The layer is at least 0.5 microns m thick. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a lubricant layer on a base body comprising depositing the lubricant layer using a sulfur donor, e.g. H2S, SF6, SO2 and/or COS and Ti-, Zr- or Hf-halides, hydrogen and optionally argon or using a PVD process. Preferred Features: The lubricant layer is 1-5 microns m thick and is a mixture of pure TiS or a mixture of TiS and TiS2. A layer made of carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides, oxynitrides, oxides and/or borides of group IVB, VB and/or VIB elements or their multi-phase mixtures, and/or a ceramic, preferably Al2O3 is formed between the base body and the lubricant layer. A TiN layer is formed on the lubricant layer as the outermost layer and has a thickness of 0.5-1 microns m. The lubricant layer is deposited using a plasma CVD process at a pressure of 50-1000 Pa and a temperature of maximum 750 degrees C.
